Wednesday Sept 23

 This week we will continue to use the blog but starting next week we will be using google classroom to post information.

We made sure that all students logged into google classroom today and accepted their invitation to our classrooms. If you haven't been in yet, take a look around. We are uploading some of the work we are doing each day/week. If students are home for a period of time and are still able to work, they may complete these tasks and submit them. 

Check your child's backpack for their RazKids log in information. 

We look forward to meeting you all over the next few days at parent teacher conferences. If you haven't already booked a time, its not too late!

Due to the conferences there is early dismissal tomorrow and no school Friday. 

Tuesday, September 22

Please remember to visit our class google meet starting at 4pm on Tuesday.  Mrs. V's classroom meet code is V2Meet.  Ms. Clare's Meet code is Clare2Meet.  We will be showing a short video to show our classroom and to make sure parents are able to access google classroom and google meet at home.  Emails and passwords have been sent home last week with your child and thru an email this weekend.

We continued our work with patterns today. We create a Poly Plog Pattern using 2-sided counters and then colored one. Tomorrow we are going to extend our patterns, so stay tuned for that!

Then we took our math outdoors. We created skip counting hopscotch courses. We chose to count by 1's or 10's by any number.

Today we made patterns on a 100 chart.  We started counting by 5's and asked the students what they noticed.  One student commented, "When counting by 5's. I can make 2 straight lines on my 100 chart."

When counting by 10's, we asked the students what is the same and different as skip counting by 5's. One comment was, "I don't say the numbers with the 5 in it and say all the 10 numbers."

When counting by 2's the students noticed that we said all the numbers with 2, 4, 6, 8, and 0 in the ones place and that they were all even numbers.

Thursday, Sept 17

We took out learning to the great outdoors today! We made patterns with natural materials and learned about the pattern Core. 

The core is  the part of a repeating pattern, that stays the same and repeats itself over and over. 

See if you can identify the core in some of these patterns 

We also started to learn about Magnets. Here were some things we think we already KNOW about Magnets and some things we WONDER....

Wednesday Sept 16

Today we blew our teachers away with our understanding of Patterns! We looked at different attributes of patterns such as shape, size, color, position and number. Then we made so many amazing patterns of our own. Check them out:

House Keeping Items:

We are still missing just a few of the student demographic and permission forms from the package that was sent home last week. If you still have those please return them tomorrow. 

Please show your parents the computer log in card we sent home today. This will be the email and password you use for your google drive, google classroom and any other fun google applications we use this year!

We are getting our Google Classrooms up and running for any kids who have to be off for a few days. If you are away feel free to check there for some work your child can. do. Otherwise, this work is being completed here at school. 

Tuesday, Sept 15

Who knew we had so many fantastic artists in our room! We were starting our self portrait and today we focused on eyes and noses. Check out some of our drawings. 

  

We did some more work with our 100 chat. We worked together to solve several puzzles like these ones. 

See if you and your family can solve them! Share your strategies. Remember to think about what clues you have?

We used our Fact Pocket for our writing today. Some of us wrote facts about hockey, cats, sharks and many other things. We have a lot of knowledge in this room!

Important Information:

Parent Teacher Conferences, which will be phone calls this year, will be open for booking this evening, so be sure to sign up for a time as soon as possible as they will fill up fast!

We will have our Google Classrooms will be up and running soon for those students who end up being home for a few days. We will send home student log in information this week. We would also like to invite all families to join us next Tuesday at 4:00 for a Google Meet where we will have a little tour of the classroom and you can meet the teachers as well. More details about this coming soon!
